General Information
What is card grading?
Card grading is the process of evaluating a card's condition and authenticity. It involves assigning a grade based on factors like centering, surface quality, corners, and edges. Graded cards are encapsulated in a tamper-proof case for protection and verification.
Why should I grade my cards?
Grading your cards can enhance their value, protect them from damage, and provide authentication. It also makes them more appealing to collectors and investors.
Who is TAG (Technical Authentication Grading)?
TAG is an innovative card grading company based in Los Angeles. They use patented AI-driven technology for precise, consistent, and transparent grading.
Why should I choose TAG for grading?
TAG provides:
-The most advanced grading technology with AI and machine learning.
-Highly detailed reports for every card -graded.
-Archival-quality, scratch-resistant, UV-protected slabs.
-No upcharges for high-value cards.
What is the difference between TAG X and TAG X+?
TAG X: Provides a traditional 1-10 grading scale along with a DINGS (Defects Identified of Notable Grade Significance) report.
TAG X+: The same 1-10 grading scale and DINGS report as X. In addition, a 100-1000 score is also unlocked and included on this service, providing access to the leaderboards.
TAG S: Includes the standard 1-10 grade and a 100-1000 precision score, along with a DIG (Digital Imaging & Grading) report, which provides an in-depth analysis of all detected defects that can be observed by the human eye. Not currently offered at this time.
What is TAG V?
TAG V is a specialized grading service for unique requests. The cost is $32.50 per card, the same as TAG X. However submissions do not receive tracking updates on your TAG account.
This option is solely for card authentication without grade. You may submit any TAG slab to be re-encapsulated into a TAG V slab if you do not wish to have a grade associated with your card anymore.
How does TAG compare to PSA, CGC, and BGS?
TAG is the most advanced AI-driven grading company, ensuring:
-Non-biased grading (machine-graded vs. human-graded).
-Ultra-clear slabs with superior protection.
-More detailed reports than competitors.
PSA, CGC, and BGS rely on human graders, which can introduce inconsistencies.
Is it cheaper to grade with TAG compared to other grading companies?
TAG has a flat-rate pricing model, meaning there are no upcharges for higher-value cards. All costs are upfront and transparent unlike some other grading companies.

Grading & Results
What grade will my card get?
We cannot guarantee grades, but we offer a $5 pre-grade screening service.
Can I send my card in for a consultation before grading?
Yes! Our store's grading expert can help pre-grade your cards and advise for $5 per card.
Can I request a specific grade or bribe TAG for a better grade?
No. TAG uses AI-based grading, making bribery impossible.
We've tried to bribe it with a better processor, it ignored us.
Can I get sequential certification numbers for my TAG slabs?
No, TAG randomizes cert numbers, therefore it is highly unlikely to find two slabs with sequential certification numbers.
Additional Services
Do you offer a slab cracking service?
Yes, for $20 per slab. We are not responsible for any potential damage. (Although highly unlikely.)
Can I submit my TAG slab and convert to a different service? (TAG X to TAG S)
All TAG Graded cards can be converted from one service to another!
The customer would need to send the card in its original casing for purposes of preserving grade integrity - a card removed from its original casing by the customer before returning it to TAG may not have its prior grade honored by TAG necessarily, as there may be risk of new damage from the removal process or in shipment to TAG.
